Residential evacuation plan Regulations published
S.I. 2025/797, the Fire Safety (Residential Evacuation Plans) (England) Regulations 2025, was published on 4 July with a single commencement date of 6 April 2026. It extends to England and Wales and applies in England only.

What we took from the month
A nine-month lead time reads as generous and is not, for one reason: the duties turn on knowing which residents would struggle to evacuate, and that is information most blocks do not currently hold. Gathering it depends on resident engagement, which moves at the pace residents allow rather than the pace a compliance programme would prefer.
The buildings most at risk of arriving at April 2026 unprepared are the ones where nobody has yet asked the question.
